2014-2015 Evaluation - Std. 1 - Vision
Collaborative Development of Goals; Implement Plans to Achieve Goals; Promote Sustainable Improvement:

Comprehensive student opportunities and services:

  •  Focus on the integration of Science and Social Studies into ELA framework. Each grade level was required to build one integrative unit (per quarter) across all content areas.  301 hours followed for lesson design and technology support.
  • Focus on STEAM –project based learning K-5 vertical STEAM committee focusing on instruction and student work Handbook gives direct instructional timeframes for each intervention group, it was followed through by me---using AIMsWeb and Galileo benchmarks and progress monitoring (weekly (RED) bi-weekly,(YELLOW), RTI framework.
  •  DeMiguel hosted grade level/all grade level welcomed/integrated STEAM events, focusing on all STEAM activities,  hosted by MEMS/SMS students as well as FHS students. Part of 12 hrs.
  •  APTT was piloted in grades 3-5. All staff members were trained on the framework of APTT by Rochelle Bronson and teachers from Kinsey. 
Recruitment and retention of excelling staff:
  •  Teachers were hired effectively-- bringing in skill sets with science, math, fitness, technology,  and/or art.
  •   All classrooms had a Promethean Board purchased this year with follow up PD
  •   Let teachers drive their own learning/meaningful PD
Professional Development:
  • Corrie (tech cart manager) technology/needs assessment survey (individualized consult as needed)
  • Teachers were invited to watch/observe other teachers—Katie or I covered, or we got a half day sub.
  • Needs assessment for teams Literacy Block
Student preparedness:
  •  Teachers had hourly CT meetings each week with agenda, norms, and a facilitator
  •  Students were made aware of direction of our school (vision/mission). Each morning P.E.  teacher would give a daily challenge (10 jumping jacks).
  •  Students received intervention/enrichment at every grade level, many NAU education students came to our campus weekly. LINK students from FHS, Grandparent from Foster Grandparent/Senior Companion-NAU, America Reads, tutors, and additional para support for our larger 2nd grade classes.
  •  Academic Tier 2 and Tier 3, specifically trained (below target students)
  •  CPI was required for our Crisis Team
  •  Math fact practice was required (some used Rocket Math, other used EngageNY)

                 Develop innovative revenue opportunities:
       Most of the money we receive is from our Fun Run--which brings in about $22,000 each year. We    also get donations from Exxon Oil, State Farm, Target, and Sean writes small grants for garden/trail      improvement and needed materials.

Collaboration:

Intervention & Enrichment:
All grade levels, excluding kindergarten, had FLEX time at 8:55-9:25. At this time, enrichment for reading occurred at every grade level. Math enrichment was pulled during the math block for 4th and 5th graders. Kindergarten was picked up by both of our RTI specs at various time in schedules. 1st and 2nd grade enrichment for math was picked up by our 2nd grade paras (we had 3). Third grade provided enrichment in their classrooms. (See handbook for expectations)
 Instructional Time:
  •   Large chunks of uninterrupted time for each grade level. Minimal announcements. Teachers turned in their schedules (see schedules).

My goal was to make it into each classroom once a day--in my busier weeks, I got into classrooms once per week. I wrote positive comments and put them into mailboxes. If there was a concern with instruction/management, I brought this up with my RTI specs. and my PBIS committee (we met each Friday).
